The indispensable ingredient for a happy life

Sure you want to be successful and efficient and have a strong business and be a leader and all that.

But at bottom, don’t you primarily want to be happy?

But happiness is a byproduct, not an end in itself. And there’s one primary ingredient that must be stirred into that mix. Without it, you simply can’t be happy. That ingredient is:

GRATITUDE

There has never yet, in all of human history, been invented a

Happy. Ungrateful. Person.

If you aren’t grateful for all of the blessings you enjoy in your life, you simply can’t be happy. Let’s think for a moment of some of the things that make your life good that you didn’t invent or earn, but are the recipient of:

Clean water

Being born in the first world

Medicines and surgeries

Transportation/roadways

Eye glasses (!)

Consciousness

This list could go on for pages. To say nothing of family, health, work, and the simple pleasures of living.

If you don’t start by being grateful for all these things, you’re destined to be unhappy. The ingrate can only be resentful, outraged, furious, and a victim.

When you focus on what you have, you gain what you lack. When you focus on what you lack, you lose what you have.

Make your list. What are you grateful for today? Better yet, make your list daily. It will change your perspective, and give you a foundation for building a happy life.

Cheering for you!
